Student Intervention Plan

All students enrolled in NVVA have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) set up by the homeroom teacher, the Learning Coach, and the student. The purpose of the ILP is to provide students with personalized short and long term goals to help them stay on top of their progress in the OLS, as well as, provide objectives to help them achieve the Common Core State Standards.

The Student Intervention Process is a procedure set by the K-12 Administrators to help your student stay on top of the goals set in their ILP. This procedure ensures all students are making academic achievement and are actively engaged in all their courses.

Tier I “Students In Compliance”: Students who keep up with their goals from their ILP, as well as, meet progress and attendance expectations on a weekly basis as set by NVVA. Please refer to your Parent/Student Handbook for more details in regards to progress and attendance.

Tier II: Students who are failing in 1 or more subjects in the OLS, did not keep up with the goals set in their ILP, and/or have consistent truancies will be issued a Tier II Student Action Plan. The Student Action Plan will require the student and the Learning Coach to conference with the homeroom teacher and develop interventions that will help the student get back on track or get back to Tier I. Interventions set in the Student Action Plan are mandatory. Examples of interventions may include mandatory attendance in extra remediation class connects, weekly progress checks with the homeroom teacher, etc.

Tier III: Students who fail to meet the interventions set in Tier II will have their Student Action Plan escalated to the Family Support Team (FST). The FST advisor will set up a Required Parent Conference (RPC) to create a Student Contract and a Back on Track Plan. The Student Contract and Back on Track Plan will outline specific expectations and requirements for the student in each failing subject.

Tier IV: Students who fail to comply with the Student Contract and the Back on Track Plan set by the Family Support Team will have their plan escalated to either the Dean of Students or an Academic Administrator. They will assess the student’s plan and see if NVVA is the best fit for his/her education. A possible withdrawal may occur.
