The grading policy for fifth grade has been adjusted to reflect the rigorous Common Core State Standards and the Smarter Balanced Assessments, also known as the SBAC.  The SBAC are computer based assessments that will require our students to think on higher levels and apply them to real world situations.  The SBAC assessments will go beyond multiple-choice questions and include short constructed response, extended constructed response, and performance tasks that allow students to complete an in-depth project that demonstrate analytical skills and real-world problem solving. 

Students grades 3-5 will be taking the SBAC spring of 2015.  Our students need explicit instruction aligned to the CCSS to be prepared for the SBAC.  Students should prioritize their school time to attend the weekly LIVE Real Life Application and Synchronous Class Connect sessions.  Students are required to submit  checkpoint assignments that reflect the level of difficulty of the SBAC. 

The work completed within the OLS are worth 80% of the overall grade, while the CFAs are worth 20% of your student's math and ELA report card grades.
